About mE

Somatic therapy

Let me introduce you to who I am. My name is Joshua Hyde, I am a London/Berlin based English-speaking Somatic therapist who works with Compassionate Enquiry shadow aspects, nervous-system awareness and deep healing techniques. I am LGBTQIA+ informed and trauma-informed and somatic in nature. The work allows you to bring yourself into a deeper state of self-awareness in order to make sense of your journey and be more present and grounded in life.

We live in a world where most people dwell on the past, refuse to accept the present and resist the uncertainty of the future. Only when we start to work with whatever life decides to offer to us instead of against it, can we truly thrive as humans.

I usually work with people who find themselves stuck in repeating relationship patterns, caught in emotional shutdown or overwhelm, struggling with people-pleasing or identity conflict, navigating addiction recovery, or living with a nervous system that does not feel safe or regulated.

Personally, my journey started when I realised I was constantly fighting against myself. Through therapy and other healing tools, I put myself on a path of self-love, self-discovery and self-acceptance. I went from victimising myself and identifying with my traumas to stepping back from my thoughts and placing myself on a healing path. I learned to see problems as challenges, experiences as lessons, and to make space for anything new to emerge. I also realised I am not alone and that pain is universal. I want people to see that there is a way out— that is why I trained to become a coach, began leading workshops and started working with clients. With determination, acceptance and curiosity, I can help you lead a more fulfilling life. And remember, we are never healed but always healing. There is always more work to be done.

MY APPROACH

I work with people who are ready to meet themselves on a deeper level. Many of us carry pain, trauma, and unresolved emotions that were never given the space to be felt, seen, or integrated. These experiences often shape how we see ourselves, how we show up in relationships, and how we move through the world. My coaching is rooted in trauma-informed principles and lived experience, combining emotional integration, shadow work, and embodiment practices to gently explore the deeper layers of your inner world.

This work is for those who are tired of feeling stuck in old patterns—whether that’s addiction, self-rejection, emotional numbness, or the lingering weight of childhood wounds. Together, we create a safe and honest space to explore your story, reconnect with your body, and bring compassion to the parts of you that have been pushed aside or forgotten. I don’t believe in fixing people. I believe in helping you remember who you are beneath the masks, the pain, and the coping mechanisms—so you can move through life with more presence, clarity, and self-acceptance.

TOPICS WE CAN WORK WITH:

Trauma: Most of us walk around with some sort of trauma, often stemming from experiences in early childhood. Trauma isn’t solely a consequence of something that happened to us, it can also arise from unmet childhood needs. Additionally, ancestral trauma, passed down through generations, can deeply influence our lives. Trauma manifests in various forms, affecting us from childhood through adulthood. I'm here to guide you through this complex terrain and aid in the healing process

Addiction: While detoxification is an important step in overcoming addiction, true recovery goes deeper than physical symptoms. Understanding the emotional and psychological roots of addiction can reveal patterns in your experiences and actions. By exploring these connections, you gain insight into the underlying causes of your behavior, making it easier to address and heal from them.

Addiction often stems from trauma, pain, or unmet emotional needs, and recognizing these drivers allows for more effective healing. The journey to recovery requires both self-compassion and the courage to face the deeper layers of your struggles, equipping you with the tools needed for lasting change.

LGBTQIA+ Struggles: Studies show that LGBTQIA+ individuals are more likely to experience mental health challenges. This is often due to discrimination, family rejection, harassment, minority stress, and fear of violence rather than their identity itself. These experiences can lead to anxiety, depression, shame, hypervigilance, low self-worth, emotional suppression, and difficulties forming safe and authentic relationships. Over time, this can also impact a person’s sense of identity, belonging, and ability to trust both themselves and others.

Therapy provides a compassionate, affirming space to explore these experiences without judgment. Together, we can work through internal and external struggles, heal from past wounds, strengthen self-acceptance, and help you build a life that feels authentic, connected, and true to who you are.

Psychedelic integration: Psychedelic experiences can offer profound insights, emotional breakthroughs, and moments of deep connection. However, the experience itself is only one part of the journey. Without integration, these insights can remain confusing, overwhelming, or difficult to apply to everyday life.
Integration provides a safe and supportive space to explore your experience, make sense of what arose, and translate those insights into meaningful and lasting change. Whether your experience brought healing, difficult emotions, spiritual questions, or a new perspective on yourself, together we can gently unpack what emerged and help you embody those lessons in a grounded and sustainable way.

Self-love and acceptance: Many people struggle with self-love, often focusing on their perceived flaws rather than celebrating their strengths. This lack of self-compassion can lead to negative self-talk, feelings of unworthiness, and a constant need for external validation. Instead of lifting themselves up, they end up reinforcing their insecurities and doubts, preventing personal growth.

Therapy offers a path to break this cycle. It provides a safe space to explore the origins of self-criticism and helps you understand how past experiences, trauma, and societal pressures may have shaped your self-perception. Through this process, you can begin to embrace self-acceptance, shedding the need to conform to others' expectations. Therapy can empower you to see your worth, focus on your strengths, and fully embody the person you are meant to be. Over time, you’ll develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself, allowing you to thrive as the truest and most authentic version of yourself.

Somatic release: Trauma isn't only stored in our thoughts and memories, it is held within the body. Over time, unresolved stress, fear, grief, and emotional pain can become trapped in the nervous system, showing up as tension, chronic stress, anxiety, emotional numbness, or a constant feeling of being on edge. Somatic release works with the body's natural intelligence, helping you safely reconnect with these stored experiences so they can begin to move and resolve.
Rather than simply talking about what has happened, this approach allows the body to complete what it was unable to at the time of the experience. By learning to listen to your body's signals and creating safety within your nervous system, you can release deeply held patterns, restore a sense of balance, and reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.

Shadow work: Shadow work is the process of exploring the hidden parts of ourselves that have been suppressed or rejected, often as a result of childhood experiences, trauma, or conditioning. These unconscious parts can quietly shape our thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships without us even realising it.

By bringing these hidden aspects into awareness with curiosity and compassion, we can better understand our triggers, break free from limiting patterns, and integrate these parts into a greater sense of wholeness. This process fosters deeper self-awareness, authenticity, and self-acceptance.

Embodiment practises:  Often, we experience a disconnect between our minds and bodies, especially when dealing with stress or trauma. Embodiment practices, such as mindfulness, meditation, and self-acceptance, help to bridge this gap by allowing us to be fully present in our bodies. Through these practices, we learn to reconnect, fostering a deeper sense of self-awareness and self-care.

By tuning into the body, we can better understand the emotions and sensations we often overlook. This connection not only helps with healing but also empowers us to respond to life’s challenges with more balance and resilience. Embodiment is an essential part of integrating the mind and body for holistic well-being.

Professional development: Professional development goes beyond just learning leadership skills; it’s about addressing the internal barriers that may be holding you back in your career. Unhealed trauma and fears often play a significant role in creating self-doubt, procrastination, or fear of failure. By cultivating self-awareness and confronting these obstacles, you can step more fully into your potential as a leader.

Personal growth in your professional life requires an open mind and a willingness to embrace change. By developing key skills like communication and conflict management while also nurturing self-compassion, you can overcome internal roadblocks and lead with empathy and resilience. This balance of technical and emotional growth allows for true success and fulfillment in your career.
